November 11, 2011 15:45 PMAgong Opens New Mosque For UTeMMELAKA, Nov 11 (Bernama) — The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin performed the Friday prayer at the Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka’s (UTeM) new Sayyidina Abu Bakar Mosque after opening it Friday.
Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, accompanied by Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wira Abu Seman Yusof, was greeted on arrival by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam and the Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakub, who is also the university’s Chancellor, and UTeM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Ahmad Yusoff Hassan.
Also present were Melaka State Assembly Speaker Datuk Wira Othman Muhamad and State Secretary Datuk Wira Omar Kaseh.
The mosque, which can accommodate 4,000 people, cost RM15.3 million.
